#Theweekthatwas @ 10/08/2025
A physically, mentally and emotionally full-on week had heaps to teach me:
If we do not make a conscious effort to have a mind and frame of reference of our own, then our mindsets, our worldview is at risk of being shaped and cemented by the dominant narrative
And it may require a completely new generation for independent thought to come to the fore
Like water, human beings were not created to remain stationary
Carrying someone else's pain can become an unbearable burden if you have no mechanism for shedding it
Human beings are innately just so it's no surprise when hundreds of thousands of people come together in one place to oppose injustice
Every day, we are tested with choosing who or what leads us and whether we will give in to our desires or not
Strength isn't about how much we can bench or squat, it's about how willing we are to sacrifice our desires for a power greater than ourselves
Much to our detriment, we sometimes put our view of ourselves and the perceptions others have of us on the same scale
Shortcuts almost always end up being the longer route
Providing feedback on another's personality or character is not constructive; instead, it has to be based on their behaviour
Resilience, like any muscle, needs a healthy amount of struggle or tension to build strength
When you know your weaknesses, you are best able to build mitigations and safeguards around them (because ignoring them won't make them go away)
Talking about racism doesn't conflate it, it shines a light on its ugly presence in society
