#Theweekthatwas @ 24/08/2025

A week of farewells and impending farewells taught me that:

  1. It's easier to be optimistic about the future when there's some level of certainty involved

  2. Giving thanks or being grateful is a lot more than simply saying "thank you"

  3. Our health and our youth are two things we often do not appreciate until we lose them

  4. Goodwill usually costs nothing yet acquires so much

  5. When we fail to manage our biases, we are likely to assess the quality of advice received based on our perception of the person delivering the advice

  6. People who have had their hearts broken tend to harden their hearts to avoid a repeat break

  7. A soft heart may be at risk of feeling more pain, but it is also capable of experiencing (and giving) more love, care and kindness

  8. A hardened heart, on the other hand, leans itself to bitterness and brittleness

  9. Patience encapsulates having vision, reliance, optimism and gratitude

  10. Reflecting on the magnificence of the creation will help us understand and appreciate The Creator

  11. Leadership lives in the balance between deliberation and decisiveness

  12. If you are capable of accepting or even just tolerating children being murdered, then you're either possessed or insane
