#Theweekthatwas @ 15/06/2025

A week of realities, prayers, inspirations and victories taught me that:

  1. We all wear a veil of privilege, it is only the weight of the fabric which changes

  2. Our privilege veil is usually invisible to us until we consider others' experiences and really listen to their perspectives

  3. Privilege may be a given, but entitlement is a choice

  4. Someone else's beliefs about who we are doesn't change who we really are

  5. When you have a vision, you gain the insight to know which step backward can take you many steps forward

  6. As a fire is fuelled by oxygen, an argument is fuelled by an exchange of words

  7. To stop an argument, all it takes is for one participant to remain silent

  8. Caring for people doesn't make a leader "soft"; rather, it is a reflection of their strength

  9. You don’t have to impose to influence nor do you need to control to assert yourself

  10. If you're truly after a peaceful neighbourhood, you don't go about throwing stones at your neighbour's house

  11. For someone who was taught “There is no first punch in karate”, the idea of a “pre-emptive strike” (in order to maintain peace) is an interesting concept

  12. Our intended purpose is pre-determined, how we go about fulfilling it, is up to us

  13. When, for decades, you've been tagged or labelled (fairly or unfairly), you savour the moment when you prove it's unfounded

  14. Victory after being demeaned, discriminated against and unfairly criticised has the sweetest taste #WTC25 #testcycle #inyourface #Proteas
