#Theweekthatwas @ 29/12/2024

The last full week of the year was full of lessons:

  1. Facts cannot be argued; opinions are another story altogether

  2. Complacency is the enemy of success

  3. When you bring together desire, skill and determination, magic happens

  4. At best, our biases may cause insult, at worst, they can lead to us forgoing our humanity completely #kamaladwan

  5. Following the crowd may seem like the sensible thing to do unless they're chasing shadows

  6. When we try to give our kids everything "we didn't have growing up", we take away the opportunity for them to appreciate struggle

  7. If not kept in check, our extravagance and consumerism can result in the season's festivities turning into grief

  8. We accept that racism and sexism are wrong because they infer superiority over others and yet we tend to accept nationalism without a thought

  9. If, as parents, we openly practice favouritism, we risk causing lifelong, and possibly intergenerational, issues

  10. Generosity is a beautiful thing when met with gratitude, and a form of hindrance when met with greed

  11. Sport is supposed to be relaxing to watch but can sometimes be the complete opposite #Proteas #WTC
