#Theweekthatwas @ 09/03/2025

A fasting week had several lessons:

  1. To test your real character, check how just you are towards those you dislike, especially when you have authority/power over them

  2. The easiest way to assess what you deem most important, is to check where you're spending most of your time and energy

  3. Fear is often considered to be negative, but there is no such thing as a negative emotion

  4. Like reading a book requires literacy skills, reading the room requires self-awareness and empathy

  5. Sometimes our most embarrassing moments serve to be others' most enlightening ones

  6. The merit of an idea, concept, model, etc. is often judged by its source instead of its own value

  7. An organisation's mission needs to connect to both heart and mind for it to be an effective "call to arms"

  8. When you aspire to make a difference, then opportunities to do so seem to present themselves

  9. Our past has all the stories we'll ever need to tell (or not tell)

  10. Constantly having to explain your culture, faith or background can be frustrating but it can also be an opportunity to re-affirm your whakapapa (lineage/heritage/roots)

  11. If you are frustrated by constantly having to explain your culture, faith or background, you should check your entitlement gauge
