A week of reality checks taught me that:

  1. Many of us, as we get older, sadly tend to listen more to refute than to understand

  2. We need to be consistent in placing dreams in the heads of our children

  3. Only when we embrace imperfection do we open the doors to our potential

  4. If people do not feel safe to be themselves in the workplace, you will never get the most out of them

  5. If you sit in the backseat of your life, you significantly diminish your chances of getting to your intended destination

  6. It's hard to show compassion to others when we don't show it to ourselves

  7. Ignorance breeds fear, animosity and hatred

  8. The Almighty is love but love is not almighty

  9. There's no greater love than the fear of disappointing the one you love

  10. When we view the helper as a hindrance, their help, no matter how sincere, only leads to repulsion

  11. Liberty, freedom and justice are precursors to peace

  12. The simplest way to identify our own biases is to flip the script by placing ourselves in the other party's position

  13. If we're not deliberate about it, we end up fitting the important people in our lives in instead of building them in

  14. Sometimes the universe talks to us in interesting and comedic ways
