#Theweekthatwas @ 21/06/2026

A week of designing, absorbing and connecting, taught me:

  1. There's a big difference between wanting to be right and wanting to get it right

  2. Everyone can talk, very few of us can connect

  3. We often conflate culture and faith when they're not synonymous with each other

  4. Ignorance is the biggest barrier to building social cohesion

  5. In sport, as in life, starting on the back foot, puts you into a reactive posture

  6. When you tread the path of truth, defence is not only unnecessary, it's counter-productive

  7. Too few of us consider the one thing that only we can do as our unique value proposition to the world

  8. Resilience-building starts in the home

  9. Some of us like the idea of hearing ourselves talk more than actually sharing something valuable

  10. Knowledge can as readily be acquired in the lecture theatre as it can at the dinner table (provided you have the right company)

  11. "Happy" alone, does not sell - there is no story without conflict

  12. We often look at those "ahead" of us and ask: "What do they have that I want?" without asking: "What do they have that I don't want?"

  13. Leadership is incomplete if you're not building other leaders

  14. In communities, we stand on the shoulders of giants
