A week of preparation taught me:

  1. Learning cannot occur while we're 100% comfortable

  2. Reflection can be as simple as asking ourselves some basic questions and truly sitting with the response

  3. There's a difference between what's valid vs what's accepted

  4. Many of us are comfortable with being mere consumers instead of producers

  5. Silence seems to have become awkward when it could be a place of solace and growth

  6. Reconnection to nature is a great way to help overcome our inability to be alone with our thoughts

  7. It's interesting how vocal some people become when certain statesmen are treated poorly while they remain quiet when thousands of children are slain

  8. When we hold up a mirror, we should try to look beyond the physical to other parts of ourselves

  9. Stubbornness and dogma are the flip side of the perseverance and resilience coin

  10. We tend to think that life only tests us with depravation or scarcity when, in fact, abundance could also be a test

  11. Science itself is a creation
