A week of heartache and hope had plenty to teach me:

  1. When entrusted with maintaining order amongst parties, one's personal feelings should be kept in check instead of taking offence to any parties’ remarks

  2. To some, calling on so-called leaders to show some courage is offensive; to others, that's par for the course

  3. If you take offence to being told to have some courage, that says a lot about your "leadership"

  4. When we focus more on the "Resources" part of "HR", we forget about the "Human" aspect

  5. The heart is like the brain's gatekeeper, when it is shut, no amount of reasoning or logic will be allowed in

  6. One can only reason with an open heart

  7. It is telling when an occupying force targets journalists, hand picks who is allowed to report and controls what they're allowed to report on

  8. A normal functioning human being cannot possibly accept that killing children is acceptable under ANY circumstance

  9. The human ego is the most dangerous "part" of our bodies second only to an evil heart

  10. While your upbringing lays the foundation for your life, it is your choices that ultimately shapes who you become

  11. You can't please everyone all the time and there are some you cannot please at any time
