A week of searching, planning and executing had several lessons:

  1. Growth without growing pains might mean we're not pushing ourselves hard enough

  2. The extent of our growth is limited only by our intention and our commitment to stay the course

  3. The ROI on investing in oneself is often underestimated or not considered at all

  4. If it's not scary, it's probably not worth doing

  5. When you chase perfection, you risk losing connection

  6. Contribution can be measured in outcome as well as presence

  7. Confidence without competence is, at best, delusional, at worst, arrogance

  8. Competence without confidence amounts to wasted potential

  9. Being consistent is a highly underrated personal trait

  10. Young people, even though they may not always express it, care about their parents' wellbeing as much as their own

  11. Knowing who you are and where you want to go eases the challenge of navigating tough decisions

  12. When a community pulls together to deliver with sincerity, something wholesome sprouts

  13. It's interesting that we have so many expectations of a life we haven't paid a single cent for
